How Refillable Vape Kits Work
A refillable vape kit is a rechargeable device built around an open pod or tank. Open the fill port, add vape juice from a bottle, close it, and the same pod serves you for weeks before the coil is swapped. Reusable vape and rechargeable vape describe the same thing. The labels differ, the kit does not.
Three parts, whichever type you buy. The battery charges over USB-C in 30 to 90 minutes. The pod or tank holds up to 2ml under UK TPD rules and houses the coil. The coil is the wear part and lasts one to two weeks. Refill from a bottle every day or two, change the coil when the flavour drops, charge it overnight. That is the whole routine.
Reusable Vapes: One Device, Hundreds of Refills
A reusable vape is the device you keep. The pod refills from a bottle, the coil unscrews and gets replaced every week or two, and the body carries on for 12 to 18 months.
That is the environmental case and it is a simple one. One reusable vape takes the place of dozens of single-use bars over its life. What gets thrown away instead is a coil the size of a thumbnail every fortnight and an empty 10ml bottle, a fraction of the plastic, battery and metal in a bar. Bottles go in with normal plastics, and the device goes to a battery recycling point at the end of its life.
The 1 June 2025 disposable ban happened largely because of that waste. Reusable vapes were the answer before the law caught up.

What a Refillable Vape Costs
Two numbers, and they are separate. The kit is a one-off from £8.99, sitting in the low tens for most of the range, and it lasts a year or more. Every pod kit in the collection comes with a free nic salt, so the first fill costs nothing.
The ongoing cost is liquid and coils. A 10ml bottle of nic salt carries roughly the same nicotine as five 600 puff bars, at a fraction of the price per ml. A coil pack lasts four to six weeks. That is the whole bill.
Cheap refillable vape kits are not a compromise on the hardware. An entry-level kit has the same 2ml pod and the same USB-C charging as one at three times the price. What you pay more for is a screen, adjustable wattage and a bigger battery, none of which change how it vapes on nic salt.

Small and Compact Refillable Vapes
The smallest rechargeable vapes are barely bigger than a car key. The compact end of each series is auto-draw with no buttons, takes a 2ml pod and charges over USB-C.

Small means a smaller battery, so a heavy vaper will be charging one of these most evenings. If that matters more than the size, the kits above carry two to three times the capacity and still fit a pocket.

Nicotine Strengths: 0mg to 20mg
This is the real difference between refillable and prefilled. Most prefilled pods come loaded at 20mg, with only a handful of brands offering 0mg or 10mg. A refillable kit lets you pick the strength every refill: 0mg, 3mg, 5mg, 10mg or 20mg.
Start at 20mg, drop to 10mg when you are ready, then 5mg or 0mg if that is where you are headed, on the same kit throughout. Bottle pricing does not change with strength, so trying a lower one costs nothing extra. At 0mg you can put a shortfill in a sub-ohm kit or a 0mg 50/50 in a pod kit.

How to Fill a Refillable Vape
Thirty seconds once you have done it twice.
- Pull the pod or tank off the device.
- Open the fill port, a silicone plug, side door or screw-off top depending on the kit.
- Add e-liquid to the max fill line, never higher.
- Close the port and slot the pod back in.
- With a new coil, let it stand five minutes so the cotton soaks before the first puff.
Skip the last step and you will taste burnt cotton, which means a wasted coil inside the first hour. Our coil priming guide covers it properly.
50/50 nic salts suit MTL coils. Sub-ohm coils need higher VG 70/30 shortfills at 0mg or 3mg. If the draw styles are new to you, MTL, DTL and RDL explained is the short version.
Coil Life and When to Change It
A coil lasts most people one to two weeks. Three signs it is done: a harsh burnt taste on the inhale, muted flavour even from a fresh fill, or gurgling and leaking around the pod.
