What is a Sub-ohm Tank?

Sub-ohm tanks are made for direct-to-lung vaping with coils that have a resistance below 1.0 ohm. This setup works best at higher wattage between 50W and 100W, and is known for producing thick clouds and strong flavour. Many sub-ohm tanks use mesh coils, which heat more evenly and enhance taste thanks to their larger surface area. These tanks pair well with e-liquids that have a higher VG content, like 70VG/30PG, since thicker e-liquids help create denser clouds.

Who Are Sub-ohm Tanks For?

Cloud chasers who enjoy bold flavour and heavy vapour will get the most out of sub-ohm tanks. Their airflow can usually be adjusted to change how open or restricted your inhale will feel, giving you more control over your draw. Combined with the higher wattage and warmth from the coil, this setup delivers a deeper, more satisfying vaping experience.

Sub-ohm Tank FAQ’s

What is a sub-ohm tank?

It’s a type of vape tank that uses coils with a resistance below 1.0 ohm, designed for direct lung inhales and large vapour production.

Can I use nic salts in a sub-ohm tank?

Not recommended – the high vapour output can make nic salts feel too strong; stick with low-nic freebase e-liquids instead.

What type of e-liquid should I use?

High-VG juices (usually 70% VG or more) are ideal, as they’re thicker and better suited to sub-ohm coils and airflow.

Why does my sub-ohm tank use so much liquid?

Sub-ohm setups vaporise more juice per puff to create bigger clouds, so they naturally go through e-liquid faster.

Are sub-ohm tanks suitable for beginners?

These are more suited to vapers with some experience. They involve higher wattage settings and a different inhale style so are probably best being worked up to.

How do I avoid dry hits in a sub-ohm tank?

Make sure the coil is fully saturated before use, and avoid vaping at wattages higher than the coil’s rated limit.

Can I adjust the airflow on a sub-ohm tank?

Yes. Most have adjustable airflow rings, letting you fine-tune the draw from airy to slightly more restricted.

How long does a sub-ohm coil typically last?

With moderate use and proper priming, a coil can last 5 to 10 days, though sweet or dark juices may shorten lifespan.
