The XROS 6 Mini is the compact, screenless kit in the XROS 6 line. It features a 1600mAh battery, VENTURI airflow, ECO and POWER modes and a 0.6 ohm COREX 3.0 pod in the box. With no screen and no buttons, you inhale and the XROS 6 Mini fires.

Vaporesso rate the battery at up to four days for an average mouth to lung vaper, and the body measures 110.7 x 24.55 x 14.65mm. It comes in eighteen colours, across the Plume, Jelly, Leather, Denim, Racing and Titanium finishes.

It takes every XROS pod from 0.4 ohm through to 1.2 ohm, which is worth knowing if you have looked at the XROS Mini Retro as well, because that one excludes the 0.4 ohm.

VENTURI Airflow

VENTURI is Vaporesso's airflow design, carried across the whole XROS 6 line, including the Mini pod vape. The channel narrows and then widens through the chamber, which draws the vapour over the coil more evenly than a straight open pull.

The slider on the side moves from a tight cigarette-style draw through to a looser one. It has enough resistance to stay where you set it rather than drifting open in a pocket.

60s Smart Prime

Smart Prime is the minute a new pod needs before the first draw. Vaporesso build it in and name it, which is more useful than it sounds: the single most common complaint about any pod kit is a fresh pod tasting burnt, and that is almost always caused by somebody vaping it before the wick has taken the e-liquid up. One minute is the whole fix.

COREX 3.0 Mesh Pods

COREX 3.0 is the current generation of Vaporesso's mesh coil. The pod holds 2ml under UK rules, fills from the top once you snap off the mouthpiece, and the coil is sealed inside it, so the pod is the consumable rather than a coil you fit yourself. In our view the 0.6 ohm in the box is the sweet spot for RDL, and a 1.0 or 1.2 ohm pod gives a tight mouth to lung draw.

Up to Four Days Per Charge

The four-day figure for the XROS 6 Mini pod vape is Vaporesso's own, based on an average mouth to lung vaper. Charging is Type-C at 5V/2A, the faster of the two rates used across the XROS range, so it is quicker to fill than the smaller kits in the family.

Five LEDs on the front show where you are, each one standing for 20% of the charge. They light briefly on the inhale and dim between puffs.

Eco Mode and Power Mode on the XROS 6 Mini

There are two output modes and no screen to show you which one is active, so the LEDs do that job instead.

• Eco Mode: the lights pulse. Lower output, and the charge goes further.
• Power Mode: the lights cascade. More output for a warmer draw.

To switch between them, take two quick puffs within about a second of each other. There is no button and no menu, so the double puff is the whole control.

XROS 6 Mini Release Date and UK Availability

The XROS 6 Mini is already out in the UK, alongside the full-size XROS 6, in all eighteen colours.

Denim, Racing and Leather finishes sit alongside the original colours.

XROS Pod Compatibility: Which Pods Fit the XROS 6 Mini

All of them. Vaporesso list the XROS 6 Mini as taking 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 ohm pods, and both pod generations use the same fitting.

Take the Mini if you want the simpler and smaller of the two and you have no interest in setting a wattage. Take the XROS 6 if you want the screen, the button and the control.

Fitting a Pod and the First Draw

A new pod needs a minute before the first draw, and Vaporesso build that in as 60s Smart Prime. The four steps to getting started with your XROS 6 mini are:

1. Snap off the mouthpiece, squeeze the e-liquid in through the filling hole, then put the mouthpiece back and make sure it is shut firmly.
2. Push the pod into the kit.
3. Leave it a minute. This is the Smart Prime window, and it is what stops a fresh pod tasting burnt.
4. Draw on it. There is no button to hold.
