OXVA XLIM Pro vs Pro 2: Complete Comparison Guide

By shane margereson

I've been in the vape game since 2014, back when I started Ecigone, and I've seen refillable vape pod kit systems evolve from those basic first-gen kits to the fantastic devices we have today.

After trying thousands of products from refillable vapes to advanced devices like DNA mods and everything in between, I've developed a keen eye for what makes a quality vape.

Today, I'm putting the OXVA XLIM Pro and the newer XLIM Pro 2 from the OXVA Xlim Series head-to-head to see which deserves a spot in your pocket.

The XLIM Pro was in my regular rotation about 6 months ago which has now been discontinued as OVXA continues freshen up the XLIM Range with new products , while both the XLIM Pro 2 vape kit and the new NeXLIM pod vape kit are currently my go-to devices when I'm out and about.

As a big fan of refillable pod systems and dessert nic salts (mainly vaping at 10mg and 5mg strengths), I've put these devices through their paces in day-to-day life.

OXVA Vape has been pushing technical boundaries in the pod kit market for years now. Founded by Justin Lai (the same bloke behind Geek Vape and the legendary Aegis series), OXVA has earned serious respect in the vape industry since 2019.

They've focused exclusively on pod systems, and trust me on this one; that specialisation has paid off with some good devices.

Design and Build Quality: Premium Feel Without the Weight

The original XLIM Pro sports a sleek zinc alloy body measuring 111mm x 25mm x 14.3mm. It's got that solid feel without being too heavy at 66g. The design is clean and functional - nothing too flashy, just a well-made device that feels like it can handle being tossed in your pocket or bag day after day.

The Pro 2 keeps a similar overall shape but is slightly larger at 114.5mm x 25mm x 15mm. Despite housing a bigger battery, it weighs practically the same at 67g. That's some brilliant engineering right there.

Where the Pro 2 really steps things up is with the finishes. OXVA's introduced three distinct panel styles: carbon fiber, artificial leather, and what I'd call a wavy brushstroke pattern. The dream purple and platinum grey versions with that brushstroke finish are absolutely stunning - they've put some serious thought into the aesthetics this time around.

One thing to note - and this is just my personal preference - the glossy zinc alloy chassis on the Pro 2 looks premium but is a bit of a fingerprint magnet due to that partial shine on the gloss. It's not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of if you're bothered by such things.

Battery Life and Charging: The Key Difference Maker

Now here's where we start seeing some serious differences that might sway your decision. The original XLIM Pro packed a respectable 1000mAh battery that would get most vapers through a day of moderate use.

The Pro 2, however, has upped the ante with a 1300mAh battery - that's a decent increase without adding any noticeable weight. For someone like me who's often out and about all day, that extra battery life makes a real difference. You're looking at several more hours of vaping time before needing to hunt for your charger.

The Pro 2 also boasts 2A fast charging through its USB-C port, which gets you from empty to fully charged in about 35 to 45 minutes. Not quite as quick as OXVA's claimed 25 minutes for an 80% charge, but still impressively fast considering the battery size. The original Pro takes a bit longer to charge, so if you're someone who's always on the go, that quicker charging time might be worth considering.

I've been using the Pro 2 in my rotation for a while now, and I'm getting a solid day of regular use before needing to charge. That's miles better than most pod systems I've tried over the years.

Screen Display and User Interface: Night and Day Difference

This is an area where the Pro 2 absolutely leaves the original in the dust, and I'm not just saying that for effect.

The XLIM Pro featured a 0.42-inch OLED display that did the job well enough, and at the time, OLED screens from OXVA were at the forefront of crisp, clear screens for pod kits of their size. The Pro 2, however, sports a larger 0.56-inch HD colour screen that's quite frankly gorgeous. The fonts are sharp, the colours are vibrant, and it's actually visible outdoors - something I've moaned about with other devices more times than I can count.

The Pro 2's screen also adds animated themes, with a light bar along the bottom that serves as a battery indicator, changing from green to blue to orange and finally red as your charge depletes. It displays your wattage, resistance, battery percentage with a visual bar, and even a five-digit puff counter - everything I want to see at a glance.

One thing to note - the original Pro had both button and auto-draw activation, whilst the Pro 2 is auto-draw only. That's my preference anyway, but worth mentioning if you're fond of that firing button.

Flavour Production Technology: OXVA's Specialty

Both devices utilise OXVA's X-TREME flavour technology, and from my personal use, they're not just blowing vapour with that claim. The flavour reproduction across both devices is exceptional - some of the best in the pod market.

In my testing with my favourite dessert nic salts at 10mg and 5mg strengths, both devices produced stellar flavour. However, the Pro 2 seems to have slightly more consistent vapour production, particularly with the 0.6-ohm pod at higher wattages.

The way the X-TREME technology works is by optimising the coil heating and wicking systems to maximise flavour while minimizing the chance of dry hits. It's not just marketing guff - you really can taste the difference compared to some competing pod systems I've used. It's also not technically full "temperature control" either, instead it's more like a halfway-house between the two.

OXVA's latest flagship, the NeXLIM, takes this technology even further with their Dual Mesh Technology that promises 200% more flavour and 200% longer lifespan. I've been using the NeXLIM alongside the Pro 2 in my rotation, and I can confirm that dual mesh tech does make a noticeable difference to flavour intensity, especially with dessert nic salts.

Pod Compatibility and Coil Options: Brilliant Backwards Compatibility

Here's some fantastic news for anyone who's already invested in the OXVA ecosystem - both devices are compatible with the XLIM V2 and V3 replacement pods . The V2s are side-filling, whilst the V3s are top-filling (which I prefer since you don't need to remove the pod to refill).

Both kits typically come with 0.6-ohm and 0.8-ohm pods in the box. The 0.6-ohm option works best between 20-25W and delivers a restricted direct-lung hit that's perfect for people vaping on 10mg Nic Salt based liquids, or 3mg "Freebase" liquids. The 0.8-ohm pod runs optimally at 12-16W and gives a tighter mouth-to-lung draw that'll remind former smokers of their cigarette days.

There's also the option of 0.4-ohm pods for cloud chasers and 1.2-ohm pods for those who prefer higher nicotine salts with a tight draw.

The coil life is absolutely impressive too - I've consistently had 2+ weeks from a single pod when using cleaner e-liquids. Your mileage may vary of course, especially if you're using heavily sweetened juices that gunk up coils faster than a Midlands winter brings frost.

One customer review here at Ecigone mentioned getting over 5000 puffs from a single pod - that's exceptional value for money in my book. I'm always banging on about pod life because there's nothing worse than having to replace them every few days.

Airflow Control Systems Compared: Small But Important Differences

Adjustable airflow can make or break a pod system, and both devices handle it well - but with some differences.

The XLIM Pro featured airflow control that was effective but sometimes a bit fiddly. The Pro 2 has refined this with a more tactile adjustment slider that stays in position better. It's just more satisfying to use, and I find I'm not constantly readjusting it like I sometimes needed to with the original Pro.

With the airflow fully open on the 0.6-ohm pod, you'll get a lovely restricted direct-lung hit. Close it down with the 0.8-ohm pod, and you've got a dead tight MTL draw. This versatility has been a hallmark of the XLIM series and continues to impress with both models.

The difference in airflow control might seem minor, but when you're using a device all day every day, these little quality-of-life improvements really start to matter. It's like getting a better pair of shoes - you mightn't notice immediately, but your feet sure thank you after a full day's walking.

Price Point and Value for Money: Worth Every Penny

The XLIM Pro retails for £16.99 here at Ecigone, representing excellent value for money. It's a solid choice if you're on a budget but don't want to compromise on performance.

The Pro 2 commands a small premium at £19.99, but I believe the upgrades justify the extra £3. The larger 1300mAh battery alone would make it worth considering, but when you factor in the improved 0.56" ultra-HD screen, refined design, and slightly better performance, it's an investment that pays dividends for regular vapers.

When considering long-term value, the cross-compatibility of pods between both devices is a huge plus. If you're upgrading from the Pro to the Pro 2, you won't need to bin your existing pods - they'll work just fine with the new device. That's the kind of consumer-friendly approach I've come to appreciate from OXVA over the years.

Performance with Different E-Liquids: Versatility is Key

With the disposable vape ban coming into effect in June 2025, more and more smokers will be looking to make the switch to refillable systems. Both the XLIM Pro and Pro 2 handle a variety of e-liquids brilliantly, but there are some nuances worth noting.

For nic salts (which many ex-smokers prefer), both devices perform exceptionally well with the 0.8-ohm or 1.2-ohm pods. I've found the sweet spot for 10mg salts is around 13-15W with the 0.8-ohm pod, giving a satisfying throat hit without being harsh.

For 50/50 freebase liquids, the 0.6-ohm pod at 22-25W delivers spectacular flavour. I've been using Bombo's Master Custard, and the caramel notes come through beautifully on both devices, though slightly more pronounced on the Pro 2.

High VG liquids (70/30 or higher) can sometimes cause wicking issues in pod systems, but both the Pro and Pro 2 handle them surprisingly well with the 0.4-ohm or 0.6-ohm pods. Just be aware you might get slightly shorter pod life with thicker liquids.

The Future of the XLIM Series

The OXVA NeXLIM is the latest creation in the XLIM lineup, and it's been an absolute revelation with its Dual Mesh Technology. But the really exciting news is that OXVA are bringing out a DNA chipped version of the XLIM - the XLIM DNA - in just a month or so. They're really upping their game with this move, and this new XLIM could be a total game changer in the refillable pod vape sector.

This little beauty will most likely be my new daily driver when it launches. A DNA chip in a pod device? That's something special that brings advanced temperature control and customisation to the portable pod form factor. Let's hope it lives up to the hype, but knowing OXVA's track record, I'm pretty confident it will deliver something special for us enthusiasts.

Who Should Choose Each Model: Finding Your Perfect Match

If you're new to vaping or on a tight budget, the XLIM Pro remains an excellent entry point. It delivers impressive performance, has a decent battery life, and benefits from the same excellent pod system as its successor.

However, I'd recommend the XLIM Pro 2 for:

  • More experienced vapers who appreciate the refined details
  • Heavy users who need that extra battery capacity
  • Those who value the improved screen and visual feedback
  • Anyone who wants the latest and greatest in the XLIM line
  • Vapers transitioning from disposables ahead of the June 2025 ban
  • People who want a dead simple but reliable daily driver

Having tried thousands of products since starting Ecigone in 2014, from refillable vapes to advanced DNA mods and everything in between, I'd say both of these stand among the better pod systems I've encountered - but the Pro 2 edges ahead for my daily use.

Real-World Experience: Living with Both Devices

I've been using both these devices extensively, and there are some day-to-day differences worth mentioning that don't show up in the specs.

The Pro 2's finish seems more resistant to scratches and scuffs compared to the original OXVA Pro. After a couple of months of daily use, my XLIM Pro 2 still looks nearly new, while the Pro started showing wear around the edges after a similar period.

The auto-draw sensitivity on the OXVA XLIM Pro 2 is slightly better calibrated than the original. There's less of that frustrating moment where you puff and nothing happens, which was an occasional issue with the XLIM Pro.

Battery life reporting is more accurate on the XLIM Pro 2 as well. The original XLIM Pro would sometimes drop from 30% to empty quite suddenly, while the XLIM Pro 2 gives you a much more gradual and predictable decline, so you're not caught out.

After carrying the OXVA XLIM Pro 2 alongside the NeXLIM for a few months now, I can also say that it holds its own quite well against its newer sibling. While the NeXLIM offers that dual mesh technology, the XLIM Pro 2 remains more compact and just as reliable for everyday use.

Environmental Impact: A Word on Sustainability

With growing concerns about the environmental impact of disposable vapes, it's worth mentioning that both the XLIM Pro and XLIM Pro 2 represent a more sustainable option. As someone who's been concerned about the waste generated by disposables, I'm pleased to see more vapers making the switch to refillable systems.

The longevity of both devices and their OXVA pods means less waste overall. Each refillable pod replaces what would be multiple disposable vapes, and the devices themselves are built to last for years rather than days or weeks.

While OXVA doesn't specifically market these devices as environmentally friendly options, they're inherently better for the planet than the single-use alternatives that will soon be banned anyway.

Final Thoughts: Which One Should You Buy?

Both the OXVA XLIM Pro and XLIM Pro 2 are amazing devices that I'd happily recommend to any vaper looking for a reliable refillable pod vape. The Pro was already an excellent product, and the Pro 2 has built on that foundation with meaningful upgrades rather than just cosmetic tweaks.

For me, the OXVA XLIM Pro 2 is the clear winner with its larger battery, better screen, and refined user experience. That said, I wouldn't turn my nose up at the original Pro - it's still a solid performer that delivers where it counts: flavour and reliability.

If you're in the market for a new pod vape, either of these devices will serve you well - it just comes down to whether you want to spend a bit more for the extras the XLIM Pro 2 brings to the table. And isn't that always the way with vaping gear? There's always something newer and shinier on the horizon, but sometimes the improvements are actually worth it - as is the case here.

I've been the owner of Ecigone since 2014, and I can confidently say these are among the top pod vapes I've tried in recent memory. OXVA Vapes has earned my respect with their focus on quality refillable pod and kit's, and it's one of the reasons I hold them in high regard when it comes to pod kits. Whichever you choose, you're getting a quality device from a brand that knows what they're doing.

If you're looking to make the switch from smoking or disposables to a refillable system that won't let you down, you'd be sorted with either of these OXVA kits. But if you want my honest opinion? Spend the extra few quid and go for the OXVA Pro 2 or the newer NeXlim Vape or even hang on for there new DNA XLIM.
