Battery Life and Charging: The Key Difference Maker
Now here's where we start seeing some serious differences that might sway your decision. The original XLIM Pro packed a respectable 1000mAh battery that would get most vapers through a day of moderate use.
The Pro 2, however, has upped the ante with a 1300mAh battery - that's a decent increase without adding any noticeable weight. For someone like me who's often out and about all day, that extra battery life makes a real difference. You're looking at several more hours of vaping time before needing to hunt for your charger.
The Pro 2 also boasts 2A fast charging through its USB-C port, which gets you from empty to fully charged in about 35 to 45 minutes. Not quite as quick as OXVA's claimed 25 minutes for an 80% charge, but still impressively fast considering the battery size. The original Pro takes a bit longer to charge, so if you're someone who's always on the go, that quicker charging time might be worth considering.
I've been using the Pro 2 in my rotation for a while now, and I'm getting a solid day of regular use before needing to charge. That's miles better than most pod systems I've tried over the years.
Screen Display and User Interface: Night and Day Difference
This is an area where the Pro 2 absolutely leaves the original in the dust, and I'm not just saying that for effect.
The XLIM Pro featured a 0.42-inch OLED display that did the job well enough, and at the time, OLED screens from OXVA were at the forefront of crisp, clear screens for pod kits of their size. The Pro 2, however, sports a larger 0.56-inch HD colour screen that's quite frankly gorgeous. The fonts are sharp, the colours are vibrant, and it's actually visible outdoors - something I've moaned about with other devices more times than I can count.
The Pro 2's screen also adds animated themes, with a light bar along the bottom that serves as a battery indicator, changing from green to blue to orange and finally red as your charge depletes. It displays your wattage, resistance, battery percentage with a visual bar, and even a five-digit puff counter - everything I want to see at a glance.
One thing to note - the original Pro had both button and auto-draw activation, whilst the Pro 2 is auto-draw only. That's my preference anyway, but worth mentioning if you're fond of that firing button.
Flavour Production Technology: OXVA's Specialty
Both devices utilise OXVA's X-TREME flavour technology, and from my personal use, they're not just blowing vapour with that claim. The flavour reproduction across both devices is exceptional - some of the best in the pod market.
In my testing with my favourite dessert nic salts at 10mg and 5mg strengths, both devices produced stellar flavour. However, the Pro 2 seems to have slightly more consistent vapour production, particularly with the 0.6-ohm pod at higher wattages.
The way the X-TREME technology works is by optimising the coil heating and wicking systems to maximise flavour while minimizing the chance of dry hits. It's not just marketing guff - you really can taste the difference compared to some competing pod systems I've used. It's also not technically full "temperature control" either, instead it's more like a halfway-house between the two.
OXVA's latest flagship, the NeXLIM, takes this technology even further with their Dual Mesh Technology that promises 200% more flavour and 200% longer lifespan. I've been using the NeXLIM alongside the Pro 2 in my rotation, and I can confirm that dual mesh tech does make a noticeable difference to flavour intensity, especially with dessert nic salts.
Pod Compatibility and Coil Options: Brilliant Backwards Compatibility
Here's some fantastic news for anyone who's already invested in the OXVA ecosystem - both devices are compatible with the
XLIM V2
and
V3 replacement pods
. The V2s are side-filling, whilst the V3s are top-filling (which I prefer since you don't need to remove the pod to refill).
Both kits typically come with 0.6-ohm and 0.8-ohm pods in the box. The 0.6-ohm option works best between 20-25W and delivers a restricted direct-lung hit that's perfect for people vaping on 10mg Nic Salt based liquids, or 3mg "Freebase" liquids. The 0.8-ohm pod runs optimally at 12-16W and gives a tighter mouth-to-lung draw that'll remind former smokers of their cigarette days.
There's also the option of 0.4-ohm pods for cloud chasers and 1.2-ohm pods for those who prefer higher nicotine salts with a tight draw.
The coil life is absolutely impressive too - I've consistently had 2+ weeks from a single pod when using cleaner e-liquids. Your mileage may vary of course, especially if you're using heavily sweetened juices that gunk up coils faster than a Midlands winter brings frost.
One customer review here at Ecigone mentioned getting over 5000 puffs from a single pod - that's exceptional value for money in my book. I'm always banging on about pod life because there's nothing worse than having to replace them every few days.
Airflow Control Systems Compared: Small But Important Differences
Adjustable airflow can make or break a pod system, and both devices handle it well - but with some differences.
The XLIM Pro featured airflow control that was effective but sometimes a bit fiddly. The Pro 2 has refined this with a more tactile adjustment slider that stays in position better. It's just more satisfying to use, and I find I'm not constantly readjusting it like I sometimes needed to with the original Pro.
With the airflow fully open on the 0.6-ohm pod, you'll get a lovely restricted direct-lung hit. Close it down with the 0.8-ohm pod, and you've got a dead tight MTL draw. This versatility has been a hallmark of the XLIM series and continues to impress with both models.
The difference in airflow control might seem minor, but when you're using a device all day every day, these little quality-of-life improvements really start to matter. It's like getting a better pair of shoes - you mightn't notice immediately, but your feet sure thank you after a full day's walking.
Price Point and Value for Money: Worth Every Penny
The XLIM Pro retails for £16.99 here at Ecigone, representing excellent value for money. It's a solid choice if you're on a budget but don't want to compromise on performance.
The Pro 2 commands a small premium at £19.99, but I believe the upgrades justify the extra £3. The larger 1300mAh battery alone would make it worth considering, but when you factor in the improved 0.56" ultra-HD screen, refined design, and slightly better performance, it's an investment that pays dividends for regular vapers.
When considering long-term value, the cross-compatibility of pods between both devices is a huge plus. If you're upgrading from the Pro to the Pro 2, you won't need to bin your existing pods - they'll work just fine with the new device. That's the kind of consumer-friendly approach I've come to appreciate from
OXVA
over the years.
Performance with Different E-Liquids: Versatility is Key
With the disposable vape ban coming into effect in June 2025, more and more smokers will be looking to make the switch to refillable systems. Both the XLIM Pro and Pro 2 handle a variety of e-liquids brilliantly, but there are some nuances worth noting.
For nic salts (which many ex-smokers prefer), both devices perform exceptionally well with the 0.8-ohm or 1.2-ohm pods. I've found the sweet spot for 10mg salts is around 13-15W with the 0.8-ohm pod, giving a satisfying throat hit without being harsh.
For 50/50 freebase liquids, the 0.6-ohm pod at 22-25W delivers spectacular flavour. I've been using Bombo's Master Custard, and the caramel notes come through beautifully on both devices, though slightly more pronounced on the Pro 2.
High VG liquids (70/30 or higher) can sometimes cause wicking issues in pod systems, but both the Pro and Pro 2 handle them surprisingly well with the 0.4-ohm or 0.6-ohm pods. Just be aware you might get slightly shorter pod life with thicker liquids.
