Vaporesso GTX Coils

GTX coils are the push-fit coil platform used across most of the refillable Vaporesso kits that take a separate coil. GTX comes in seven resistances from 0.15 ohm to 1.2 ohm, three of which also come as dual mesh, so Vaporesso list ten different coils in all, each coming in packs of five.

The coil pushes into the base of the pod or tank and pulls straight out, so a change takes seconds and there is nothing to screw. Which resistance you want depends on the kit and the draw.

Vaporesso GTX Coil Compatibility

Vaporesso group the current vape kits by the pod or tank the coil goes into, and each one takes part of the range rather than all of it. Coil and vape kit compatibility is outlined below.

The 0.6 ohm is the crossover coil on both the Luxe XR and the Armour G pods: it works in the DTL pod and the MTL pod.

Vaporesso also list the GEN PT 60S and GEN PT 80S on the GTX platform, and a legacy list covering the Luxe 80 and 80S, GTX Go 40 and 80, Swag PX80, Luxe PM40, Target PM80, PM80 SE and PM30, GTX One, GEN Nano and Xiron.

Three of those older kits take only part of the range. The GTX One is listed for 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm. The Luxe PM40 the same three. The GTX Go 40 is listed for 0.3, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 ohm.

Mesh or Dual Mesh Coils

Three GTX coil resistances come in both mesh and dual mesh options. Mesh is a single layer and dual mesh is what Vaporesso call a dual-layer mesh structure, which heats more e-liquid at the same resistance.

Vaporesso publish two figures for the dual mesh, 25% aroma reproduction and 30% longer lifespan. They state no baseline for either, so take them as their numbers rather than as a measured comparison against the single layer.

In practice, the GTX dual mesh coils suit someone chasing flavour and vapour at 0.15, 0.2 or 0.3 ohm on a shortfill e-liquid. The single mesh coils cover the same resistances and the whole range above them.

What Vapes Do GTX Coils Not Fit?

GTX coils do not fit the XROS vape kits. Those take a COREX pod that has the coil sealed inside, so there is no coil to replace: you replace the whole pod.

GTX coils also do not fit the GTi kits. Vaporesso are explicit that the two are not interchangeable in either direction, and that the Armour Ultra, the iTank T and the GEN 200 are GTi only. Those take a GTi coil instead.

If your kit is older than any of those, the GTR coil covers the FORZ tanks.

The GT Mesh coil covers the NRG tanks, and between them those two take care of the rest of the older Vaporesso fittings.

How Long a GTX Coil Lasts

Vaporesso publish this from their own lab testing:

• Five to six refills on the lung coils
• Seven to eight refills on the mouth to lung 0.8 ohm and 1.2 ohm.

The signs your coil needs replacing are a burnt taste on the lung coils and weak vapour on the mouth to lung ones. Sweet dessert flavours shorten coil life because the sugars caramelise on the mesh, so GTX coils need replacing sooner than if you're a fruit or menthol fan.

Fitting a GTX Coil

1. Take the pod or tank off
2. Pull the old coil out of the base
3. Push the new one in until it seats
4. Put the pod or tank back.

Nothing threads and no tool is needed.

Fill it, then leave it standing for a few minutes before the first draw so the cotton in the coil soaks, and take two or three short puffs before a full one. A dry first pull is the most common reason a new coil tastes burnt.
