How Long Does a Vape Last? Kits, Pods and Coils Answered

Vape device and pods and how long they last

A looked-after pod kit lasts a couple of years. A refillable pod gives four or five days of daily use before the coil fades, so a pack of four covers two to three weeks. A prefilled 2ml pod is about a day at a pack-a-day pace. Those are the short answers, and the in-depth ones depend on millilitres, not time. Here is the arithmetic for every part of a vape.

The short answers, part by part

Part Typical life What decides it
The kit (body and battery) A couple of years Charge cycles and care
Refillable pod 4 to 5 days of daily use Millilitres through the coil, liquid type, resistance
Prefilled 2ml pod About a day for a 20-a-day switcher Your millilitres per day
Large prefilled refill set (12ml) Around a week at 2ml a day Same arithmetic, bigger container
Coil in a tank 1 to 2 weeks Covered in our coils guide

The millilitre rule

A pod does not wear out by the calendar. It wears out by the millilitres of liquid that pass through its coil, which is why two vapers get such different answers from the same pod. The usage data from our own customer base puts the typical bottled-liquid vaper at 5.7 to 10.3ml a day, with prefilled pod users far below that.

Puff counts are the manufacturer's estimates, established under test conditions. Treat them as a comparison tool between products rather than a promise. Millilitres are the metric your own experience will actually follow.

How long do refillable pods last?

Four to five days of daily use per pod is the working rhythm. Our own XROS COREX pods page rates a pack of four at two to three weeks of daily use, and the same pattern holds across the refillable ranges.

Three things move that number. Higher-resistance coils last longest, which is why the 1.2 ohm option in a pod range has the longest life. Sweeter, darker liquids coat the coil faster and shorten it. And the more millilitres you vape a day, the faster any pod fades.

How long do OXVA pods last?

The same four-to-five-day rhythm, with one range-specific note: the current Xlim V3 pods come in packs of three, in 2ml or 3ml XL sizes, and OXVA rates the UniTech 2.0 coil inside them at 30% longer life than the previous generation. Pick the 1.2 ohm for the longest life on 20mg nic salts, and browse the full OXVA pods range for every kit's fitment.

For Vaporesso kits the brand-specific answer, resistance by resistance, is in our guide to what affects coil lifespan in Vaporesso devices.

How long do prefilled pods last?

A sealed 2ml pod carries roughly a day of vaping for someone who smoked twenty a day, which is exactly why a pod a day maps so neatly for switchers. Lighter vapers get two days or more from the same pod.

Larger prefilled formats do the same arithmetic with bigger numbers: a set built from a 2ml pod and a 10ml refill container, like the PIXL 8000 vape kit, holds 12ml, which is around a week at 2ml a day. Our Hayati guide walks through how those sets work, and every kit of this type lives in our prefilled pod kits collection.

The signs a pod is finished

  • The flavour thins out or turns toasty: the coil is on its way out, and a properly burnt taste means it is already gone
  • Less vapour on the same draw: the coil is gunked and under-wicking
  • Gurgling or leaking: the seals or wick are past their best - our vape crackling guide covers which sounds are normal and which mean the pod is done

How to make pods last longer

  • Never let it dry out: refill before the liquid drops below the coil inlets, because dry hits kill coils fastest of all
  • Let a fresh pod soak: give the cotton several minutes after the first fill, exactly as our priming guide lays out
  • Match the liquid to the resistance: the table on every pod listing pairs each ohm rating with the liquid it wicks best
  • Leave gaps between puffs: heat that never dissipates cooks the cotton
  • Store the kit upright: it keeps the coil wet and the seals happy

And the kit itself?

The battery is the clock. Every rechargeable cell fades gradually with charge cycles, so a daily-use pod kit gives its best for a couple of years, longer with care. Charge it before it hits empty, keep it out of hot cars and cold pockets, and clean the pod bay now and then. Our battery guide and maintenance guide cover the habits in full. And if the kit stops taking a charge, our vape not charging troubleshooter is the place to start.

Vaping is substantially less harmful than smoking but it is not risk-free, and it is intended for adult smokers and existing vapers. If you do not smoke, do not vape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Four to five days of daily use is the realistic pattern, so a pack of three Xlim V3 pods covers around two weeks. The 1.2 ohm resistance on 20mg nic salts gives the longest life, sweet dark liquids shorten it, and OXVA rates the current UniTech 2.0 coil at 30% longer life than the previous generation.

About a day for someone who smoked twenty a day, and two days or more for lighter vapers. A 2ml pod of 20mg nic salt holds roughly a pack's worth of nicotine, which is why one pod a day is the working swap. The puff figure on the box is the manufacturer's test rating, so use it to compare products rather than to plan your week.

Never vape a pod dry, let a fresh pod soak for several minutes before the first puff, leave gaps between puffs so the coil cools, store the kit upright, and match your liquid to the coil resistance shown on the pod listing. Dry hits are the single fastest way to kill a coil, so topping up early is the habit that pays most.

A couple of years of daily use is a fair expectation for a looked-after pod kit, and the battery is what ages: every rechargeable cell fades gradually with charge cycles. Charging before empty, keeping the kit away from heat and cold extremes, and cleaning the pod bay all stretch it. None of the hardware carries the vape duty either, which is charged on liquid only, so kits, pods and coils cost the same after October 2026 as before.
