In the last couple of years Geekvape have released a new set of products that are paving the way for disposable vapers to make the switch to pod kits.

The Q Pod system also comes in a 2ml top fill model, as well as a 3ml XL side fill unit for ultimate customisation.
Now, I think it’s about time we compared the latest products in the Sonder Series, so you don’t have to.
Geekvape Sonder Q vs Sonder Q2
So which device should you buy? Getting straight to the point - we recommend trying the new Geekvape Sonder Q2! You can read all about it in our Sonder Q2 and Q Pod Side Fill review.
The Sonder Q2 takes the simplicity and versatility of the original Sonder Q to the next level with a boosted 30W output, a larger 1350mAh battery for extended use, and an upgraded aluminium alloy body. With an RGB battery indicator and flexible Q Pod filling options, the Q2 is perfect for both MTL and RDL vaping, offering improved durability, stylish looks, and exceptional flavour with every hit.
Starting with the Sonder Q…
The Geekvape Sonder Q is a pod kit that is as stylish as it is powerful. Coming in 15 gorgeous colourways from single to dual colours, it also sports a 1000mAh rechargeable battery via Type-C USB for up to 2 days of usage between charges, along with a max output of 20W which the device adjusts according to the pod you have inserted.
Made of a tough plastic and coming in at just 39.1g, it’s incredibly easy to carry around for lightweight and discreet vaping. A fully adjustable airflow slider allows for both MTL (Mouth to Lung) and RDL (Restricted Direct Lung) vaping, and with a simple auto-draw activation all you have to do is fill and go - no buttons or settings to worry about.
Talking of filling, the Sonder Q is compatible with both the 2ml top fill pods it comes with, as well as the new side fill Q pods that boast better wicking material, an improved mesh coil with VPU technology, and a bigger 3ml XL capacity. Both Q Pod variations come in 4 resistances - 04. Ohm, 0.6 Ohm, 0.8 Ohm and 1.2 Ohm.
Perfect for nic salt or freebase e-liquids , the Sonder Q also comes with a unique battery indicator. The Sonder logo will light up green if the battery is 60% or higher, blue if it is between 30 and 60%, and red if it’s below 30%. This can be checked when drawing from the mouthpiece, when popping in a pod, or plugging it in to charge.

It also features a cool RGB ring light for battery indication and flexible pod options for an even smoother vaping experience.
Next Up, The New Q Pods…
Along with their Q range of devices, Geekvape have produced the Q Pod system. These top fill and side fill pods fit the full Q range (the Sonder Q, the AQ (Aegis Q), the Wenax Q, and the new Sonder Q2), creating a wonderful ecosystem for this family of units.
Q Pod Top Fill vs Q Pod Side Fill
When choosing between Q Pod top fill and Q Pod side fill, the new Sonder Q2 is designed to give you the best of both worlds! The side fill Q Pod stands out with its larger 3 ml XL capacity, making it ideal for longer vaping sessions without frequent refills.
Plus, with four resistance options and advanced VPU-powered mesh coils, it delivers intense flavour and consistent hits. The upgraded wicking material in the side fill Q Pod also ensures smoother draws and improved flavour retention.
The top fill Q Pod, while smaller at 2ml, offers convenience and is excellent for those who prefer quick, easy refills. Both pods support MTL and RDL vaping, giving you flexibility in your vaping style.
For a powerful, versatile experience, pair the Sonder Q2 with side fill Q Pods and enjoy unmatched flavour, durability, and convenience in one sleek device!
The Top Fill Q Pod
The top fill Q Pod is the standard pod that comes with the Sonder devices. Each unit comes with one pod, but you can purchase a pack of three to keep you in good supply.
Supporting MTL (Mouth to Lung) and RDL (Restricted Direct Lung) vaping, these pods come with a 2ml capacity and mesh coil for consistent flavour and vapour production. You’ll find these in three different resistances, each with their own optimal power output which the Sonder units automatically detected when they’re inserted.
- 0.6 Ohm (18-25W)
- 0.8 Ohm (12-18W)
- 1.2 Ohm (8-12W)
This top fill variation has a removable mouthpiece which exposes the filling port. Simply pop off the mouthpiece, insert the nozzle of your e-liquid in the filling port (making sure the rubber flap is pushed all the way to the side) and fill as desired.

The New & Improved Side Fill Q Pod
The new side fill version of the Q Pod brings with it significant technical upgrades over the top fill variety.
First is the new side fill port. Simply unstopper the rubber bung, fill and replace the stopper. No need to remove the mouthpiece with this one, making refilling even easier.
Because of this new filling method, these pods have a bigger capacity - 3ml to be exact. This XL version allows for longer times between refills so your vaping session won’t be interrupted.
Moving onto the coil, Geekvape has used new VPU mesh coil technology here too. This increases vapour cloud production by up to 23.7% and offers a long lifespan. It also features a ceramic core and VPU-standard non-woven wicking material, as well as increased safety measures for your peace of mind and better longevity.
These new pods also come in four resistances instead of three:
- 0.4 Ohm (25-30W)
- 0.6 Ohm (18-25W)
- 0.8 Ohm (12-18W)
- 1.2 Ohm (8-12W)
