What is a Vape Tank?

A vape tank is one of the most important components of a vape kit. It serves as a reservoir to hold your e-liquid, contains the coil which is needed to vaporise the e-liquid, and has a mouthpiece which allows you to inhale the vapour. Most vape tanks will have a 510 connector that allows you to screw the tank onto your battery device. There are also some vape tanks that have a top-filling system for easy e-liquid refills and an adjustable airflow that enables you to tailor your draw.

Types of Vape Tanks

There are several types of vape tanks that are categorised by their vaping style. Mouth-to-lung tanks are designed to produce a small amount of vapour for a more restricted draw that is similar to a cigarette-style inhale, perfect for those who are making the switch to vaping. Sub-ohm tanks are for the direct-to-lung vapers who love bigger clouds and bolder flavour, and often feature an adjustable airflow design so you can tailor your draw. For those who like more customisation over their setup, then RTA tanks will be ideal as they allow you to build your own coils and wicks. While RDA tanks are similar to RTA tanks, this style of vape tank also needs you to manually drip your e-liquid onto the coil, resulting in a more intense flavour and cloud production.

Vape Tank FAQ’s

What is a vape tank?

A vape tank is the part of your device that holds e-liquid and houses the coil, allowing the liquid to be vaporised when heated.

Are all vape tanks compatible with any mod?

Most use a standard 510 connection, but you should always check wattage requirements and coil compatibility before pairing.

What’s the difference between MTL and DTL tanks?

MTL tanks offer a tighter draw like a cigarette, while DTL tanks are designed for bigger inhales and more vapour.

How often should I change the coil in my tank?

Typically every 1-2 weeks, depending on how much you vape, the e-liquid used, and how the flavour holds up.

Can I use any e-liquid in my tank?

It depends on the tank – sub-ohm tanks work best with high-VG liquids, while MTL tanks prefer thinner, high-PG blends.

Why is my tank leaking?

Leaking often happens due to over-filling, worn seals, or incorrect coil installation, so double-check those areas first.

Do vape tanks need regular cleaning?

Yes. Rinsing the tank and wiping it down every week or two helps maintain flavour and prevents build-up.

Where can I buy a good vape tank?

Here at Ecigone, we offer a huge selection of vape tanks, from a cloud chasing sub-ohm tank, to a more discreet MTL Tank, and everything rebuildable too! Choose RTA’s, RDA’s and RBA’s from top vape brands.
