The Elf Bar ELFX Special Edition is a refillable pod kit with a 1000mAh battery, up to 30W of power and QUAQ dual mesh pods that you fill yourself. Two pods come in the box, one at 0.6 ohm and one at 0.8 ohm, and a 3-level airflow slider takes the draw from MTL to RDL.

It was the first refillable vape kit in Elf Bar's ELFX range. The Special Edition has the same 1000mAh ELFX inside, in an aluminium alloy and PC body with a matte or glossy finish, and its RGB lights can be switched off. It is not the ELFX 2, which is a newer kit with a 1700mAh battery and three power modes.

Elf X Refillable Vape

The Elf X is a draw activated pod vape: there is no button, so you fill a pod, click it in and inhale. Elf Bar rates it at 0.1 seconds to fire, and it can be used while it charges.

QUAQ Dual Mesh Pods

Each ELFX pod has two mesh coils that take turns to heat. Elf Bar says this doubles the life of an ordinary pod, and its QUAQ LAB testing puts each pod at about 25ml of e-liquid for the fullest flavour, and up to 100ml before it needs replacing. The pods fill from the top and carry Elf Bar's 4x anti-leak design.

3-Level Airflow Control

A slider on the side of the kit sets the draw. Close it down for a tight mouth to lung pull like a cigarette, or open it up for a looser restricted lung draw. As a rule, the 0.8 ohm pod suits the tighter settings and the 0.6 ohm pod gives a warmer, fuller vapour on the open one.

Immersive RGB Lights

The X on the side lights up in gradient colours with every puff, and the same light shows the battery level in five stages. On the Special Edition you can switch the lights off: quickly pull the pod out and push it back in three times.

Made for ELFLIQ

Elf Bar designed the ELFX around its own ELFLIQ nic salts, which come in 10ml bottles. Elf Bar says the ELFX also works with freebase e-liquids and other nic salts.

Choosing between 5mg, 10mg and 20mg usually comes down to how much you smoked or vaped before.

How to Use the Elf Bar ELFX

To use the Elf Bar ELFX, fill a pod, leave it to soak for 5 minutes, click it in and inhale. Elf Bar's own steps are:

1. Pull the pod out of the kit and peel off the sticker on the bottom, if there is one.
2. Gently pull the silicone plug on the side of the pod open, in the direction of the arrow.
3. Fill the pod with e-liquid through the fill hole.
4. Push the plug back in straight away so it does not leak.
5. Click the pod into the kit and wait 5 minutes before vaping, so the coils soak and you avoid a dry hit.
6. Set the airflow slider, then inhale to vape.

To charge it, plug a USB-C cable into the base. The X light shows how much battery is left:

• Green: 100% to 80%
• Green-yellow: 80% to 60%
• Yellow: 60% to 40%
• Orange: 40% to 20%
• Red: less than 20%

Which Pods Fit the Elf Bar ELFX?

The Elf Bar ELFX takes ELFX series pods. Elf Bar has since moved to the ELFX 2.0 pod, which it says is made to fit every ELFX device, so ELFX replacement pods in 0.6 ohm or 0.8 ohm both click straight in.

Elf Bar ELFX vs ELFX Ultra and ELFX Mega

All three are refillable Elf Bar vape kits. The ELFX is the slim one, with a 1000mAh battery and 2ml pods that fill from the top.

The ELFX Ultra takes the same ELFX pods but adds a 1500mAh battery, up to 45W and a 2.4 inch touch screen with ECO and TURBO modes.

The ELFX Mega has the biggest battery of the three at 2800mAh, a screen and Turbo and Eco modes, and it uses its own ELFX Mega pods.
