Can You Vape in Cyprus?

Short answer: yes, you can vape in Cyprus. It is legal, you can bring your own device and e-liquid, and vapes are sold in shops.
Cyprus is an easy, legal place to vape, but it is a little stricter than its relaxed-Mediterranean image suggests, and there are two things most guides miss. The indoor ban genuinely covers vapes and is enforced, and the rules are not the same across the whole island: if you cross into Northern Cyprus you are in a separate jurisdiction. Here is the accurate picture for a 2026 trip.
Is vaping legal in Cyprus?
Yes. Nicotine vaping is legal and regulated in the Republic of Cyprus under the EU framework. E-cigarettes are sold to over-18s, e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml of nicotine with refill tanks limited to 2ml, and there is no special customs barrier for a tourist bringing their own kit from the UK. Online sales and vending-machine sales are not allowed, and there are some restrictions on flavours and advertising, but as a visitor carrying your own supply none of that is a problem.
So legality is not the issue. What you need to get right is where you use it, and knowing which part of the island you are on.

Can you bring your vape to Cyprus?
Yes, and it is easy. Pack your device and e-liquid in your cabin bag, never the hold, because of the lithium battery. Bring a personal amount, a device and a spare plus enough liquid for the trip, and you will walk through with no trouble. The Republic of Cyprus is an EU country, so there is no special customs hurdle for a tourist carrying their own supply.
You can top up locally too, but there are good reasons to travel with your own, which we come to below.
The indoor ban: stricter than you expect
This is the rule that catches people who assume a sunny island means relaxed rules. Cyprus bans vaping in all enclosed public spaces, the same as smoking, which means no vaping inside bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, hospitals or the airport. On-the-spot fines apply, and in the tourist areas the rule is taken seriously. The rules also extend to a private car carrying a child or a pregnant passenger, so do not vape in the car on a family day out.
The safe approach is the familiar one: if you would not light a cigarette there, do not vape there. Step outside, use open terraces, and keep away from children. Do that and you will have no problems.
North Cyprus is a different story
Here is the part almost every guide skips. Cyprus is a divided island. Most UK holidays are in the Republic of Cyprus in the south, the EU side that covers Ayia Napa, Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca, and everything above applies there. But if you cross the line into Northern Cyprus, you are in a separate territory with its own rules that follow a different, Turkish-aligned framework rather than the EU one. Vaping is available there, but the specifics on sale, use and enforcement are not the same as the south.
For a normal beach holiday in the south this makes no difference. But if you are planning a day trip across the border, do not assume the rules, or the products on sale, are identical. Treat it as a separate country for vaping purposes, because in practice it is.
Can you vape on the beach in Cyprus?
Yes. Outdoor vaping, including on the beach and in parks and streets, is allowed in the Republic of Cyprus. The things to watch are courtesy and litter: never drop a disposable or pod in the sand, keep well clear of families and children, and use any designated areas where they exist. Vape considerately and the outdoors is yours.
Can you buy vapes in Cyprus?
Yes, in the south. Vapes and e-liquid are sold in dedicated shops and some kiosks to over-18s, though you cannot buy them online within Cyprus or from vending machines. Two things make buying locally less appealing than at home: Cyprus now charges an excise tax of around 12 cents per millilitre on e-liquid, and there are restrictions on flavours, so your usual may cost more or not be on the shelf.
For that reason it is worth travelling with your own. Pack plenty of your usual e-liquid or nic salt e-liquid, and take a spare pod kit or refillable kit, so a lost or broken device does not leave you paying Cypriot prices for an unfamiliar replacement.
A word on THC and CBD vapes
Nicotine vaping is fine. THC and CBD vapes are not. Cyprus has strict drug laws, and cannabis in any form, including a CBD vape you bought legally in the UK, is treated as a drug matter at the border. This is the one thing that turns an easy holiday into a serious problem, so keep it simple: bring nicotine only, and leave anything cannabis related at home.
What to pack for Cyprus
Your device and a spare in your cabin bag, enough e-liquid or nic salt for the trip so you skip the local tax and flavour limits, a charger and cable, and a refillable kit rather than a bag of disposables. Vape outdoors, never inside a bar or cafe, avoid vaping in the car with children, and leave anything cannabis related at home. Do that and Cyprus is an easy, legal place to vape, just remember it is stricter indoors than it looks, and that the north plays by different rules.
