Vaporesso Armour Ultra Mod

Vaporesso Armour Ultra Box Mod

The Vaporesso Armour Ultra mod is a 100W box mod on a built-in 5500mAh battery, sealed to IP68 and IP69K and drop tested to MIL-STD-810H. It is the mod from the Armour Ultra kit, sold on its own with a 510 thread for the tank you already use.

There is no tank, coil or drip tip in the box: just the mod, a USB-C cable and the manual.

Vaporesso call it the world's first Ultra mod, and it sits in the Vaporesso Armour range with the Armour G pod mod.

Key Features of the Armour Ultra Mod

• 5500mAh built-in battery, up to three days a charge in Vaporesso's figures
• 5 to 100W on the AXON chip
• Boost, Pulse, Eco and TC modes
• IP68 and IP69K rated against water and dust
• MIL-STD-810H drop tested from 1.2m
• Reinforced 510 connector
• 0.96 inch TFT colour screen
• 9V/2A or 5V/3A charging over USB-C
• Lock slider and a covered USB-C port
• 173g, in seven finishes

A Built-In Battery Instead of Two 18650s

Vaporesso put the battery life of the 5500mAh cell close to a dual 18650 mod, and 111% longer than a single 18650. In their comparison a single 18650 mod weighs 230g, against 173g for the Armour Ultra. There are no cells to buy, carry or swap, and it charges over USB-C at 9V/2A or 5V/3A, with the time left shown on screen.

What Is Boost Mode?

Boost is the Armour Ultra Mod's default mode. It lifts the voltage to push more power into each puff, and Vaporesso say it gives stronger bursts and more vapour. They rate it 25% more stable than Pulse and 40% more than Eco.

The other three Armour Ultra Mod modes are:

• Pulse: for a steady temperature
• Eco: for constant wattage and the longest battery life
• Temperature Control (TC): for nickel, stainless steel and titanium.

IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H

The mod is certified to three standards, tested to third party lab conditions. IP68 is waterproof to 1m for 30 minutes or more. IP69K is dust tight and covers high pressure water jets and water up to 80°C. MIL-STD-810H is a 1.2m drop test onto the front, the corners and other angles. The buttons are waterproofed and the USB-C port has a cover.

Which Tanks Fit the Armour Ultra Mod?

Most 510 tanks can be used with the Armour Ultra Mod. The connector on top is reinforced and the output goes from 5W up to 100W. The manual's protections cut the output below 0.1 ohm and above 5 ohm.

Vaporesso pair it with the iTank T, the tank in the Armour Ultra kit, and other 510 sub-ohm tanks fit in the same way.

One setting depends on the coil: SMART. This setting suggests a wattage for the coil fitted, and only works with Vaporesso GTi coils. On any other coil, set the wattage yourself from the maker's range.

Armour Ultra Mod vs. the Armour Ultra Vape Kit

The Armour Ultra vape kit is this mod with the iTank T and two GTi dual mesh coils in the box. Everything else is the same: battery, output, screen and ratings.

Buy the mod if you already own a 510 tank you like. Buy the kit if you need a tank as well.

How to Use the Armour Ultra Mod

Screw your tank on, switch the mod on and set the wattage for your coil. The step-by-step process is:

1. Charge it over USB-C.
2. Screw a 510 tank onto the connector until it is firmly seated.
3. Press the power button five times within two seconds to switch on.
4. Set the wattage with the up and down buttons, inside your coil's recommended range.
5. Press the power button three times for the menu, and pick Boost, Pulse, Eco or TC.
6. Press the power button to vape.

To lock every button, slide the lock button or press the power button four times. Watt lock, in the menu, locks only the up and down buttons and leaves the power button working.
