Elf Bar AF5500 Pod Kit

The Elf Bar AF5500 prefilled pod kit took over from the AF5000 when disposables got pulled in June 2025. Bigger battery at 1000mAh instead of the old 650mAh, USB-C charging, and approximately 5,500 puffs from each pod and refill container. The 1.2ohm QUAQ mesh coil is the same one the AF5000 used.

Each Elf Bar AF5500 kit ships with a 2ml pod and a 10ml refill container holding 20mg ElfLIQ nic salt. Ten Elf Bar AF5500 pod flavours in the range covering fruit, ice, and menthol. Pod and container click into the kit together and the e-liquid feeds through on its own as you vape.

1000mAh Battery and USB-C Charging

A 1000mAh battery in the Elf Bar AF5500 goes a full day for most MTL vapers. That's nearly double what the AF5000 had at 650mAh, so you're not running flat halfway through the afternoon like the old one sometimes did.

USB-C on the base takes roughly an hour to charge from empty. The LED on the front tells you where you're at with the battery. No cable in the box though, so any USB-C phone charger does the job.

QUAQ Mesh Coil and Auto-Refill

Inside each Elf Bar AF5500 pod there's a 1.2ohm QUAQ mesh coil that heats e-liquid across a wider surface than a standard round coil would. In practice that means the flavour doesn't tail off towards the end of the pod the way it can with cheaper kits.

E-liquid management is handled by the auto-refill container. The 10ml container sits in the base and feeds liquid up into the 2ml pod through capillary action as you vape. You'll spot small bubbles rising through the see-through body when it's working. Between the pod and container you've got 12ml of ElfLIQ nic salt, which is where the approximately 5,500 puff count comes from.

One thing worth knowing: this is a prefilled kit, not a refillable one. You can't open the pods or top them up with your own e-liquid. When everything's empty you swap in a fresh Elf Bar AF5500 refill pod set and you're good to go again.

How to Set Up the Elf Bar AF5500

Take the Elf Bar AF5500 kit and refill the container out of the box.
Unscrew the lid from the 10ml container but leave the rubber stopper underneath it.
Pull the silicone bung out of the base of the AF5500 kit.
Push the container into the base until you feel it click.
Turn the whole thing upside down and leave it for about 5 minutes.
Flip it back upright, wait another 30 seconds, then draw on the mouthpiece.
When the pod runs empty, pull it out and slot a fresh Elf Bar AF5500 refill pod in the same way.

Is the Elf Bar AF5500 the same as the AF5000?

No. The AF5000 got banned in June 2025 when the government pulled all single-use disposables. This is the replacement. Same flavours, same 20mg strength, but the battery's bigger now (1000mAh vs 650mAh) and you get 500 more puffs. The main difference is you keep the device and just swap pods when they run out instead of throwing everything away. Tastes exactly the same though.

How long does the Elf Bar AF5500 last?

About a week for most people, maybe longer if you don't vape much. Each pod pack gives you around 5500 puffs. I know heavy vapers who go through it in 4-5 days, and light users who stretch it past 10 days. The battery lasts all day unless you're constantly vaping - then you might need to charge it by evening. Works out much cheaper than buying disposables every few days.

Can you refill Elf Bar AF5500 pods yourself?

Nope. They're sealed shut when you buy them. Once empty, you pull them out and click in new ones. Each replacement pack comes with a fresh 2ml pod and 10ml refill container already filled with your flavour. There is a new coil built in too. It's a bit annoying if you want to use your own liquids, but that's the trade-off for not having to mess about refilling. If you want that, get an Elfa Pro instead.

Is the Elf Bar AF5500 good for beginners?

Yeah it's easy. There's no buttons or settings. You literally just inhale in and it works. Setup takes a minute - push the container in, flip it upside down briefly, wait a bit, then start vaping. Feels like smoking a cigarette which helps when you're quitting. The see-through window means you can check how much liquid's left. Battery light shows when it needs charging. Pretty much perfect if it's your first vape.
