SturdyTip Hybrid Nub

The SturdyTip Nub is the tip half of the SturdyTip Hybrid, sold on its own so you can change the look of a setup without buying another base. Each one is CNC milled from resin in the round profile. The base is not included, so this is for people who already own a Hybrid.

What a Nub Actually Is

The Hybrid is a three piece tip. The lower section carries the threads and the o-rings, and the nub is the part your mouth touches. Because the two separate, you can keep one base on the mod and swap the top for a different colour or a different shape in a couple of seconds. It is the cheap way to keep a setup looking new, and it is why people end up with a drawer of them rather than one.

The Round Profile

These are the round shape, a short waisted barrel that flares out at both ends with a wide bore through the middle. It is the shorter and fuller of the two Sturdy MFG make, easier on the mouth over a long session, and the one most people reach for on a boro. The shape does not change the airflow of the mod itself, it only alters how the last few millimetres feel against the lips.

Resin, Not Metal

Resin does not carry heat the way titanium or steel does, so a nub stays comfortable when a build is being pushed. It also takes colour in a way metal never will, which is the point of the range. The blanks are poured in small batches and then machined, so the swirl, the depth and the way the light catches it differ from piece to piece. The one you receive will be close to the photograph without being an exact match, and that is the nature of the material rather than a fault.

What It Fits

The SturdyTip Hybrid base and nothing else. That base is threaded for both Billet Box and dotAIO, so a nub follows it onto either without any further parts. If you want to move the same tip onto a 510 tank, the 510 SturdyTip Hybrid V2 Adapter handles that end of it. A nub will not thread onto a standard 810 or 510 tip on its own.

Fitting and Swapping

Unscrew the old nub, screw the new one on, and stop as soon as it seats. Resin threads do not want to be cranked down like metal, so finger tight is where it should stop. Keep the spares somewhere padded rather than loose in a pocket, because resin will scuff against keys long before titanium would. A wipe with a damp cloth is all the cleaning it needs, and solvents are the one thing to keep away from it.
