2What e-liquid do you use?
Bar salts (disposable-style liquids like Elfliq and Maryliq) and sweet dessert flavours are packed with sweeteners that gunk up a coil fastest. A standard, less sweet 50-50 nic salt is the kindest to coils. Plain tobacco and menthol are gentle too (pick standard), but sweet tobacco blends like RY4, caramel or custard gunk faster (pick Sweet or Dessert).

Quick BuyHow long do vape coils last?
As a rule of thumb, a replaceable coil or pod lasts about 7 to 14 days for a typical all-day vaper. A light vaper can get up to two weeks or more; a heavy vaper at high power might only get 3 to 5 days. The single biggest factor is your e-liquid: sweet, dark and dessert flavours contain sweeteners that caramelise and gunk the coil, and can burn one out in just 2 to 3 days, while High-VG Shortfills gunk up faster than thinner 50-50 nic salt. Bar salts - the disposable-style e-liquids such as Elfliq and Maryliq - are also very sweet and eat coils just as fast. Higher wattage and heavier use both shorten life too. For the full detail see our guide to coil lifespan.
Signs your coil needs changing
- A burnt or scorched taste, even after a rest and a top-up.
- Flavour has gone weak, muted or just tastes off.
- Less vapour than usual, or a gurgling or spitting sound.
- The liquid in the tank or pod has gone dark quickly.
How to make coils last longer
- Prime every new coil (soak the wick, wait 5 to 10 minutes) before first use.
- Vape at the recommended wattage for the coil, not above it.
- Keep the tank or pod topped up so the wick never runs dry (no dry hits).
- Use lighter, less sweet e-liquids if you want coils to last; save the sweet dessert flavours for when you don't mind changing coils more often.
- Take a breath between puffs so the wick can re-soak.
